A picture is worth a thousand words.
We’ve all heard that saying before. One picture can say so much. In the world of blogging this is also true.
Because most blog posts are brief, the perfect picture can explain that post with one single image. Original pictures are a great way to emphasize a point, especially a personal story, but there isn’t always a camera on hand.
Where to Look
Creative Commons Search is a great website where you can search and find pictures to use while giving credit to the original owner.
Using it easy. Just type in the search bar what picture you are looking for. You can select whether or not you want to use the resulted images for commercial purposes by selecting or unselecting the check box. You will find dozens of options to choose from. Select the picture you want to use. Most of the time, the photo will be available in different sizes.
Give Credit Where Credit is Due
Use the attribution symbols to see how to properly give credit to the owner of the picture. By selecting ones that are not for commercial use, a link to the owner’s photo page is usually sufficient.
You can read more about the attribution rules by clicking here. Be sure to check the rules and regulations for each picture, as they may vary.
Now that you have a picture for your post, you can add it to the blog and bring it to life, while also giving credit to a fabulous photographer!
